Mental Arithmetic is a method of computation through "visualization of abacus" to achieve the result of computing.
Generally, most people perceive mental arithmetic is only about the
magical speed of computing a sum of figures given. However the actual
definition of mental arithmetic is the interaction of "Abacus" &
"Visualization Abacus" collocation with the scientific & logic
materials to enables the child to develop their stability and
concentration. Therefore, the synergy of left & right hemisphere is
needed during the process of mental arithmetic calculation and at the
same time it will helps to improve the imagination, memory power as well as the
reaction force. Thus, mental arithmetic is definitely not
a computing skills, it is a key to the development of mental potential.

What is AMARC Teaching Method ?

AMARC
Teaching Method is developed by our principal Mr. Yap Yoke Teng (David)
based on his several years of teaching experience in mental arithmetic.
It is
specially tailored for children of ages 3½ to 6. The AMARC
Teaching Method focuses on stimulating the unlimited brain power of
children in order to achieve the optimum learning capability in the
development of left and right brain.
The AMARC Mental Arithmetic is basically a training
process of using abacus with digits from 0~9 in complex arithmetic
integration, “visualization of abacus” will be guided
directly and focus after the abacus training. During the process session of abacus
training will be gradually reduced to avoid the child being too dependent on the abacus.
Constant practise on mental arithmetic will help the
child to develop rapid reflexes and increase their concentration span.
Their memory power will be greatly improved and able to achieve better
visualization ability as well as overall understanding ability.
